About Dominique...




Dominique was born on 5 September 1975.
Dominique learnt the game of draughts from his mother during a summer holiday when he was about eight years old. Via draughts at school, organised by Erik Kousemaker, the father of the known draughts player from Zeeland, Arjo, he started to get the hang of it. After some pushing by father Kousemaker he quickly became a member of draughts club PWG 's-Gravenpolder (then without the addition of sponsor name PWG).

Via self education and the nationally organised training sessions of Nikhila, Dominique developed his draughts skills to a somewhat acceptable level. He even obtained a few regional titles (2 x Champion of Zeeland juniors) and almost made it to the Dutch Championships for juniors.

Dominique does not like rematches. He played three and lost three.
Against Marino Barkel for placement in the Dutch Championships for juniors.
Against Arjo Kousemaker for the Championship of Zeeland for seniors.
And against Johnny de Leeuw, again for the Championship of Zeeland for seniors.

Dominique played for draughts club PWG 's-Gravenpolder for a number of years. He stopped playing draughts after the birth of his daughter Ella, although he sometimes, when really necessary, got called in to replace somebody. Even that has finished now, because Dominique lives in Australia now with his wife Liz and his two children (daughter Ella and son Aidan).

Dominique works for a big Australian bank as a data analyst. His hobbies are soccer, draughts and running. Since 2005 he is active on the internet with his running site Best Running Tips which gets hundreds of visitors daily.

His internet success is mainly due to Site Build It !
